Analyze Rome Odunze's matchup for week 10
Odunze enters Week 10 as fantasy’s WR3 (19.9 ppg) after scoring in 3 of 4 games, drawing a Patriots defense that’s allowed the 4th-most WR points and has no answer for his 6'3" frame and red-zone usage.
The Patriots’ secondary has been among the league’s most generous, hemorrhaging big plays and ranking bottom-five in fantasy points allowed to wide receivers. New England lacks a true shutdown corner to match up with Odunze’s size/speed profile, and the game sets up as a shootout with both defenses struggling. Add in Odunze’s 100% route participation and four touchdowns on just 20 receptions, and the matchup is as good as it gets for a locked-in WR1.
After a rookie year hampered by poor QB play and target competition, Odunze has exploded for 296 yards and 4 TDs in four 2025 games, posting back-to-back 15-plus-point outings and a 31.8-point explosion in Week 2.
Odunze’s sophomore leap has been nothing short of spectacular. He went from WR56 in fantasy points per game (6.9) and an 84th-ranked catchable-target rate to the overall WR3 (19.9 ppg) through four weeks. The departure of Keenan Allen and Ben Johnson’s arrival as head coach have unlocked every-bit of the 6'3" receiver’s profile: he’s run a route on 100% of dropbacks and owns a 95% snap share, turning 20 receptions into 296 yards and four scores. Most importantly, Caleb Williams is finally delivering accurate, on-time throws, allowing Odunze to win at every level and dominate in the red zone where he leads the league in touchdowns.
New England’s defense has been a get-right spot for opposing pass-catchers. The Patriots have surrendered the fourth-most fantasy points to wide receivers, including multiple 25-plus-point individual outings, and they simply don’t have a corner with the size or athleticism to contest Odunze on 50-50 balls. With the total projected in the upper-40s and Chicago’s offense clicking (31.5 ppg over the last three), volume and scoring opportunities should be plentiful. Expect another seven-plus targets, a handful of down-field shots, and at least one red-zone look—odds that strongly favor another top-12 weekly finish.
Bottom line: Odunze has graduated from intriguing sophomore to every-week fantasy cornerstone. Lock him into lineups as a low-end WR1 this week and ride the hot hand until further notice.
